Answers from your own holdings — not from the open internet
Your people already use AI assistants for research. With Librario's MCP server, the assistant researches straight inside your library: it searches the holdings, reads metadata, and retrieves attached documents — and answers based on what your organization actually owns.
Which sources on the biocompatibility of titanium alloys do we hold — including older ones?
- Long-term biocompatibility of Ti-6Al-4V implants Study 2019
- ISO 10993-1 — Biological evaluation of medical devices Standard 2021
- Surface modification of titanium alloys Article 2023
Three matches in your holdings — the oldest from 2019. Shall I summarize the long-term study for you?
The situation
Your professional literature is real capital
Your organization has invested in professional literature for years — standards, studies, books, reports, countless PDFs. In Librario that body of work sits organized and searchable in one place. It is not an archive, it is a working foundation: knowledge that carries projects and backs up decisions.
Yet a precise answer still depends on someone knowing where to look — or asking the right colleague. Someone new to the team knows neither.
The complication
AI assistants and your library never meet
AI assistants and agentic chat are part of everyday work now — in research, in engineering, in administration. But the assistant and your holdings never meet. And that breaks in two places.
- Carrying results across by hand
- Copying search results from Librario into the chat window, downloading PDFs and dragging them in, copying the answer back — that costs time on every question and does not scale.
- An AI without your holdings guesses
- A general model answers from general knowledge. It cannot know which revision of a standard applies in your office, or that the decisive amendment sits in one particular PDF. A confidently cited but withdrawn standard is not a cosmetic flaw — it is a liability.
The solution — with Librario
The AI researches your library itself
Librario provides a Model Context Protocol server. The assistant finds and reviews the right sources — from there you take them into your reference manager and writing tool.
-
Search in natural language
Anyone — including a new colleague in their first week — asks a question in plain language. The assistant searches the holdings and returns relevant matches, without anyone needing to know the catalog or interrupt an experienced colleague.
-
Read details, analyze files
The assistant reads metadata and retrieves attached PDFs — and points back to the actual Librario records, so every source can be opened and verified.
-
One sign-in, no key exchange
You sign in with your existing account — that's all it takes. Nothing for anyone to create or periodically swap out, and no copy of your library data.
-
Your permissions apply
The assistant sees exactly what the signed-in person sees in the web interface — separate libraries stay separate, and each person sees only their own area. It only researches: read and retrieve, never change.

Security & control
Securely connected, revocable at any time
- Sign-in & single sign-on
- The connection is authorized via OAuth. During authorization you sign in to Librario — through your organization's single sign-on, where it is configured.
- Your permissions
- The assistant sees exactly what the signed-in person sees in the web interface — separate libraries stay separate, and each person sees only their own area. The integration is research-only: search, read, retrieve — never create, change, or delete.
- Controllable per tool
- On the consent screen you enable or disable individual tools per connection. You can see and revoke connections at any time under Account → Integrations.
- Your data at Librario
- Librario hands over only what the signed-in person is allowed to see, only in response to a specific request — over access that is time-limited and never stored permanently. Nothing is copied or duplicated. Hosted in the EU.
- Your data at the AI provider
- What the connected assistant does with a request is governed by your agreement with that AI provider. The enterprise routes — Microsoft 365 Copilot, Gemini Enterprise — keep the exchange inside your own enterprise environment at the AI provider, under your existing data-processing terms.
- Traceability
- The assistant works against your real holdings and points to specific Librario records you can open and verify. Librario remains the authoritative source; the assistant speeds research up, it does not replace it.
